Wagon, Porch Project and blessings unmeasured

Final Project:

After clear coating the wagon, adding a barrel and some rope, Sister Runnells sewed the wagon cover.  In the photo below, we are presenting it to Tyson Johnson (manager of the ranch) who. was quite pleased to see it in much better shape.

This is the building where we worked the wagon.  The barrel is much more visible here.

This is a marker near the ranch office.   The  Osage Nation Heritage Trail is 70 miles long in northern Oklahoma and experience some of the state's most unique and beautiful landscapes.

Incredible Cotton Candy Sunset where we are living

Catfish

I said I was going to have catfish before I went home... and I finally did.   Dessert was homemade peach cobbler with. ice cream.  Yum.

Porch Project

Our front porch was in need of some TLC.  The tiles on it were breaking  and becoming a trip hazard.  So...  Elder Himle went to work.  He jack-hammered the tiles off and loaded them into the tractor scoop.
Then the real work began.  It was back breaking work, however. he had a good helper with Elder Johnson.  Which way to lay them out???
This should do.

Day two... it is starting to come together.

The UPS  man seemed pretty happy about the project (which tells us that he has probably had some hair raising experiences here).

Another beautiful sunrise.   Oh, how I will miss these!

Conference

We enjoyed watching General Conference and were so blessed to have my sister and her friend Teresa  here with us.    One of the stories that really stood out to me was this one:

One Monday,  my sister left and continued on her journey, and I went to the Pawhuska library to continue our project (copying. obituaries).  I felt impressed that we visit a lady named Arneta and take her a rice bag afterwards.  Arneta is about 85 years. old and generally very talkative and sharp.   Around 3:30pm Sister Runnells knocked and then  rang the bell.  Finally,  Arneta came to the door.  She was still in her night gown and told us she had just woken up.  I went to work washing dishes and tidying up while sister Runnells asked questions.  "When did you eat last?"  "Do you know what year it is?"  Her answers concerned us.
We decided to go pickup a sandwich for her at Subway and when we returned she was standing at the door waiting.  She nibbled on it, but didn't eat much and we became concerned about her confusion.  We decided she needed to be seen at the doctor and about that time her son came on his motorcycle.  We asked him if he would take her.  He agreed.
As we  got her dressed,  I asked her where her phone was, she gave me her drivers license.  When I asked where her car keys were, she gave me her credit card.  At last we loaded her in the car and her son drove away with her.
A few days later, Sister Runnells returned to her home to check on her.   She was the bright eyed, bushy tailed 85 year old we loved.  She did  not remember us being there or even her son having been there.  However, she reported that she had a urinary tract infection and had driven herself to the doctor (We knew better).
I thought, "the rice bag was just like the light bulb!  She doesn't remember a thing--but Heavenly Father remembered her."  I was reminded just how close our Father in Heaven is to us.  I was grateful for the promptings.

First, living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jens of Denmark prays daily to live the gospel and notice promptings from the Holy Ghost. He has learned to act quickly when he feels directed by the Spirit.

Jens shared the following:

“We live in an idyllic, small, half-timbered house with a thatched roof, in the center of a cozy little village, close to the village pond.

“On this night with the most beautiful Danish summer weather imaginable, doors and windows were open, and everything breathed peace and quiet. Due to our gloriously bright and long summer nights, I had not been in a hurry to replace a burned-out light bulb in our utility room.

“Suddenly, I got a strong feeling that I had to replace it immediately! At the same time, I heard my wife, Mariann, call for me and the children to wash our hands because dinner was ready!

“I had been married long enough to know that this was not the time to start doing anything else than washing my hands, but I heard myself calling out to Mariann that I would just pop over to the store to buy a new light bulb. I felt a strong urge to leave immediately.

“The grocery store was only on the other side of the pond. We usually walked, but today I grabbed my bike. While riding past the pond, out of the corner of my eye I noticed a small boy, about two years old, walking alone near the edge of the pond, very close to the water—suddenly he fell in! One minute he was there—and the next he was gone!

“No one had seen this happen but me. I threw my bike on the ground, ran, and jumped into the waist-high pond. The surface of the water immediately closed with duckweed, making it impossible to see through the water. Then I sensed a movement to one side. I put my arm in the water, got hold of a T-shirt, and pulled the little boy up. He started gasping, coughing, and crying. Soon afterward the boy was reunited with his parents.”

As Brother Jens prays each morning for help to recognize promptings from the Holy Ghost, even something as unusual as to immediately change a light bulb, he also prays that he can be used as a tool to bless God’s children. Jens lives the gospel by seeking divine direction each day, striving to be worthy, then doing his best to follow that direction when it comes.
